New head for Community College

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Phil Bevan to succeed as Headteacher of FCC following the retirement of Mr Proffitt at the end of this academic year.  This follows a rigorous selection process involving Trust leaders, governors, staff and students

Mr Bevan graduated with a Physics degree from King’s College, London and later completed a PGCE at the Institute of Education. He started his teaching career at The Tiffin Girls’ Grammar School and then moved to Ridgeway SchoolSwindon, eventually holding the role of Assistant Headteacher After this he moved to Hanham High SchoolSouth Gloucestershire where he was first Deputy Headteacher and then Headteacher. He then joined Devizes School as Headteacher.

The recruitment panel felt that Mr Bevan was an outstanding candidate, with extensive senior leadership experience and an excellent record of school improvement.   He is fully committed to providing the best possible education for students, as well as continuing to develop our successful School and Trust. Indeed, these are all the qualities and characteristics that we would want from our Headteacher. I am sure that you will join us in congratulating him on his appointment. I am confident that you will support him as he leads the school into a new and exciting future.

We asked Phil to share a few words in response to his appointment. He says “‘I am absolutely delighted to be joining FCC, it will be sad leaving my current school because there is such an emotional investment when you work in schools. However, I knew from my first visit that FCC was a place where I fitted and I was so impressed with the students and staff.”

We are hugely grateful to Mr Proffitt for his leadership and dedication to FCC, and wish him a very happy retirement. Mr Proffitt and Mr Bevan will work closely together over the next few months to ensure a seamless transition.
