This day-long event will provide a concise yet wide-ranging exploration of the evidence on teaching children for whom English is an Additional Language (EAL). Drawing on the work of Oxford’s world leading education researchers,you will learn about multilingual language development, evidence about meeting the needs of EAL learners in reading, writing, and oral language development, the place of the mother tongue in English medium instruction, and lessons from assessment of English proficiency.
