Prioritising Reading in the Primary Classroom

This session will aim to support teachers in developing confidence in teaching key skills in reading, alongside promoting reading for pleasure. It will also focus on how to create an immersive reading experience both within the classroom and the wider school. Suitable for Primary ECT’s and Teachers in their first few years of teaching.

The online session will cover the following topics:

• Creating a high-quality reading environment in the classroom and around the school
• Using the class timetable to maximise opportunities for reading
• Core approaches in the teaching of reading
• Modelling a culture of reading in the classroom
