Executive Headteacher appointed for Folly View and The Elms Primary Schools

Faringdon Learning Trust is pleased to announce the appointment of Tracey Smith as Executive Headteacher for Folly View and The Elms Primary Schools.

Following the retirement of the current Executive Headteacher, Tracey will start in September 2023 for the start of the new academic year.

Tracey has been a successful Headteacher of three primary schools in Oxfordshire (Bladon, Tower Hill, and New Marston), after teaching across all age groups as a Primary Teacher over many years. Tracey has also been a National Leader of Education and a Pupil Premium Reviewer. She has also been a School Improvement Consultant at Oxfordshire Local Authority and used to run the Early Headship training course for OTSA (the Oxfordshire Teaching Schools Alliance).

She is a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and a Teacher Development Trust Associate, having researched and studied the importance of effective CPD both for her Associateship and for her Master’s in Educational Leadership. Other interests include values-based education, education for social justice, restorative practices, trauma-informed education, mentoring, cultural capital and the importance of closing the word gap, where Tracey has worked closely with Oxford University Press. She has most recently been running teacher and leadership training at a university.

As well as being a very experienced Headteacher, she has also been an Executive Headteacher across two schools. In her new role Tracey will have overall responsibility for both schools and will oversee the strategic development of primary education in Faringdon.

Tracey has already visited the schools on several occasions.

CEO for Faringdon Learning Trust, Duncan Millard said:

“We are delighted that Tracey will be the Executive Headteacher leading the two Faringdon primary schools. During the comprehensive two day interview process, we were inspired by Tracey’s wealth of experience, excellent knowledge of education and how her strong values guide her impactful leadership.  Tracey is a superb appointment and know that she will make a difference to not only the Faringdon community but also to all the schools within the Trust.”
